I've done alot of thinking over the last few days and you know what? I really do think this worked out as good as it possibly could have. No, I won't be a Justice. But then again most people are never a Justice, even really successful people. I learned alot about the Supreme Court, I learned alot about "Blogging"--and I learned alot about myself.

So, I'm turning my blog back to its natural state... guess which color... Pink!! And I might not post as often now. But I will definately read comments and stay on email and everything so stay in touch.

Also I've been thinking about, what if they say "Hey, Harriet would've actually been great!! Lets get her again." How would I answer. Well you know what, this may surprise you, but my answer would actually be no! I've always had a philosophy of, "Judge not or you'll be judged yourself." And here I was thinking about being a judge full-time. Not a good fit.

In closing, I hope I can be an inspiration to other nominees in the future. God bless America (and the Blogosphere!!).

You know how when people die, they have a funeral and all they're friends come, and its like, "hey if only they'd known how everyone cared about them when they were still alive"? Well this is like that!! I really want to thank everyone for all of the support and Kind Words. I have so much to be thankful for. And, last night I was bowling and got three strikes in a row...maybe I should get withdrawn more often! LOL But seriously it warms my heart. I'll be okay.

Also some people have been asking about my reaction to the Scooter stuff... well I don't know where you're from but in AMERICA, there's a little thing called "abstinent until proven guilty."

Dear Supporters.

This is obv a really hard day for me, I was super excited about being a Justice. I was looking at my very first blog post and it made me cry. But this day isn't about me. Its about all of us. And I have to say... Thank You.

Of course I have to start with a thank you to Hugh. Hugh Hewitt. Hugh your the best!! Here's what Hugh wrote today,

the Senate Judiciary Committee has yet to recieve its updated questionnaire from nominee Harriet Miers We're told it'll get to them around 11 p.m. ET. Said NY Sen. Chuck Schumer in a statement at 8:45 pm: "This is another in a series of disappointments. The Miers nomination is suffering from a serious bout of delay, distraction, and disorganization and needs a dramatic turnaround."

I TURNED IN THE WRONG THING!! I'm not sure what was in those envelopes, maybe my taxes or something (yes, double extension and I'm still late, I've been busy OK!!)...but I was checking the blogs and I saw this and my heart went through the floor, the questionnaire's sitting on my desk. Hi from Questionnaire-istan...I'm trying to make up my mind about something. Does video count for the contest. The problem is that when I made the rules at the beginning, I didn't anticipate this situation. The original rules were just:

I need you're help to make a logo. It should have a picture of me, the name of the campaign (CALL YOU'RE SENATORS!!) and my name (Harriet Miers duh!!), and 202-225-3121.

So most people just sent in pictures, but one person sent in a video, which I love, but is it unfair to everyone else because they didn't know a video is okay? I think if I'd thought about it at the time I would have said "no video," b/c my intent originally was just pictures. But now that things have changed I want to add video. I don't want to be unfair. WHAT DO I DO!!!

This is driving me nuts, its totally distracting me from preparing to be a Supreme Court Justice!!

Hi everyone! OK I'm not supposed to be blogging, I have to work on my Murder Boards and my Questionnaire (and might I add, its going to be the best questionnaire ever , I should apologize to future nominees for setting such a high precedent! J/K LOL... if only...) . Anyway I'm taking a short break just have to remind you, today is the deadline for the Call You're Senators logo contest. You probably thought I forgot... no way Jose, I'm a nominee of my word!! Also I should explain about "Don't Tell Leonard," Leonard Leo is in charge of keeping me On Task. He's basically a lawyer.

Here are some of the most recent submissions. If you sent one and you don't see you're's (??) here, it means it didn't "make the cut." Either that or I haven't opened you're email yet. Basically if you haven't gotten a reply back from me I haven't seen you're email yet, there's alot. I'd just like to say up front, way to go to EVERYONE who sent one in, A+ for effort and A++ for creativity!!

Here's a few of the current batch. I don't know how to make it so that the writing goes right next to the logo, so my comments might be hard to understand, please bear with me.

As you can see, some of these are done in the "classic style." Very nice!!

In one I have a really big head, well I hope that's not a joke about being the nominee "going to my head" LOL

As you can see one of them is really creative, just like Anne Geddes. I don't want to bias you're votes but I think that one would not be appropriate in terms of me being taken serious as a Nominee.

As far as the one that says "Ignite... desire," its beautiful!! And it makes you want to learn more.

All in all, nice work!! There's more where these came from, I'll post as soon as I can. Just a reminder, if your still planning to submit (and I hope certain people are!!), the final deadline is tonight (Friday) at midnight, no exceptions. Now what if your on the West Coast. Good question. It doesn't make any diffarence, for you the contest started three hours earlier!!! Nice try tho...

GREAT DO-OVERS IN HISTORY

Well by now you probably know that I have to "take a mulligan" on my questionnaire. Well my answer is bring it on!! Its like I've always said. There's no shame in getting something wrong the first time, the only shame is giving up!!! I may not get a Hole In One but a birdy is pretty good I'd say!

With that in mind, I made this list of great do-overs from history to cheer me up. Maybe it will cheer you up too!!

Richard Nixon wasn't elected president the first time he ran. Either did President George HW Bush. But you know what they had in common. They took a mulligan and won!!!
Here's one thats particularly relevant to me: Dred Scott Decision. Alot of people dont realize but sometimes the Supreme Court makes a mistake, I've been reading about it, and then they can go back and overturn it. Just like my questionnaire!!
As my friends know, I'm not just a golf lover I'm also a bowler. Well bowling is the perfect example... even if you get a gutter ball the first time, you still have another ball in the frame and you can get a spare!

And needless to say, this is an INCOMPLETE list!! There's tons more, but obv I have to get to work on the questionnaire. Thanx everyone for you're letters of support!

Okay first here’s some background. Especially if your wondering why its been so long since my last post. I was trying to put into words my thoughts about Specter and the 1989 questionnaire and everything, and honestly if I hear Roe V Wade one more time I'm going to announce that I'll just recuse myself. (Just kidding its important obv). And then I started to write a poem but it kept coming out really dumb. And then I had an idea for a song, like the Fiddler on the Roof song except it’d be “Abortion!” –but it’s a Hot Button Issue and I don’t want to be offensive. Also I couldn’t remember the tune.

Anyway the point is, I wrote this song, it goes to the tune of If I Were A Rich Man (which I’m not!!!).

Hi everyone!! I'm really excited!!! Here's why, I realized that its no use waiting around, its time to Make This Happen and you can help!! If you want something done you have to do it yourself, and so I'm asking for everyone to join in.

Announcing... the Call You're Senators campaign.

NEW YORKER STORY ON BLOG...PRETTY GOOD

So the New Yorker did a story the blog, with an interview we did on IM. And to be honest I was worried about how it would come out (BIAS). But now that its here I think its pretty good!! I've been doing Murder Boards for the hearings and I applied some lessons to the interview, like making sure you get out you're core message. Guess what my core message was.

I'm in Time Magazine!! Thats two weeks in a row, a "personal record". Not on the cover (yet!!) just an inside story... but its an inside story that tells the Inside Story!!

Get ready for a whole new Harriet. After a disastrous two weeks, White House officials say they hope to relaunch the nomination of Harriet Miers for the Supreme Court by moving from what they call a "biographical phase" to an "accomplishment phase."

Well its about time!! Enough about my biography, let's talk about my lifetime of accomplishment.

The White House's 20-person "confirmation team" will line up news conferences, opinion pieces and letters to the editor by professors and former colleagues

...not to mention a certain highly acclaimed blog!!! =D
Okay this part I dont get.

Lawmakers and staff contend that during her first round of courtesy calls, Miers had anything but a commanding presence, looking more like a prom date next to the confident Senators.

If anyone cares to remember, at prom its the boys who are nervous and awkward in they're Tux's and the girls who look beautiful!! If I can find my prom pictures I'll post them, but I think they're in Texas.

If you are like me, you probably waste alot of time taking online tests of all kinds, even if you should be talking to Senators about their votes and cramming for your confirmation hearing. Well if you want to save time, there's good news. You can take the Miers-Briggs test in like five minutes!!

This is the test that tells you what your like, you get four picks. Its funny, most people think I'm an I but I'm secretly an E... pretty much S, DEFINATELY F...and I guess anyone on the Supreme Court definitely has to be JUDGING!! LOL

I just ordered it. (Obv the black bar isn't on the real one, I just added it to cover up the # so I don't fall victim to Identity Theft, I know it sounds paranoid but "10 million Americans are victims of identity theft each year.") I bet I'm going to have like the World's Best Credit when I'm confirmed, because the Supreme Court is a lifetime appointment.

I've been totally useless today, none of us are supposed to do any work that might create a Paper Trail b/c of the investigation so its like why are we at work in the first place?!!!

Everyone is talking about "What's my philosophy." A good example, The Hot Line, which is kind of like The Note for insiders. This is from the Blogometer:

the WH and the RNC appear to be caught off-guard at the overwhelmingly negative response to the Miers pick. Mehlman was caught a bit flat-footed at times; on several questions, he could do little more than reiterate that she would explain herself at the hearings, that her "philosophy" and "character" were sound, and that they had to trust Pres. Bush's decision. ... Mehlman sought to quell concerns by promising that she would "lay out her philosophy."

Well I think this has gone on long enough!! Here's my philosophy, its simple really.

Its a holiday for the Jewish faith. One thing I love about our President is his commitment to Every Race and Every Religion, its an inspiration for us all to honor that. I made Yom Kippur cookies for my Jewish colleagues but its like everybody's sick today!! Nothing's worse than being sick on a holiday but wouldn't you know it.

Thx Ann Althouse, Maureen Dowd did a column making fun of me, at first I was mad because its all fake but then I realized its a joke.

Since there is no breathtaking Miers judicial record to pore over, I was eager to read more breathless Miers missives to a president she describes as the most brilliant man she has ever met. How could I get the notes from the White House, given how opposed Mr. Bush is to leaks? I called Scooter and Karl and they sent the secret documents right over.

August 2001 "Thank you so much for letting me bundle up and drag away the brush that you cut down today. And if I might add, Sir, I've never seen a man wield the nippers so judiciously. It was awesome! You are the best brush cutter ever!!"

Well Ha, Ha Maureen Dowd. Frankly if you'd done you're homework, you'd know I don't use words like "nippers"... not to mention, "judiciously."

I can handle it, it comes with the territory, even when people are different in public than in private and should have some sympathy, they were Borked too that's how it got its name. You need a thick skin in this business. But I think this is just MEAN and UNNECESSARY:

Harriet Miers Blog I’m all for Supreme Court Nominees, appointees or any political figure blogging but there is a LINE that should not be crossed and this is SO far over that line it’s scary. It's such a blur, Its like I have to read the news just find out what I did today!!

I don't know where to start... well, today I dressed "conservatively" (you can guess why!!!) for my meetings with Senator after Senator, after Senator... after Senator... after--you get the idea. I just have to say, I definitely have a favorite, but as to who it was, I "take the Fifth" ... it's like being a teacher, you have to treat them all the same.

Also, Karl was in a really bad mood--and not just "The Mondays on Thursday," which I always get for some reason, but I mean WHEW. So that's one reason why I didn't blog besides being super busy. One thing I want to explain though is that anyone who emails me, I try to respond, even if I disagree with them on everything. If I haven't written back to you yet it's because I've been so busy, SEE ABOVE!! LOL but seriously, thanks to everyone writing in to say You Go Girl, it feels good to know I'm not alone. Its weird how you can feel alone in the middle of so many people.

So, Karl and Andy were talking about whether my blog is okay or not, esp. since it's "out of character" for the Bush White House--Karl was like "if this were the Clinton Administration, you would've started blogging five years ago!" LOL...

I'm guessing I'll get to keep the blog. A) Its not a big deal. It hasn't been on TV or anything. B) But it would be a bigger story if they took it down. C) I pointed out "What about the FIRST AMENDMENT?!" and they laughed, I don't know why.

Here's the exciting part... there's a chance Karen Hughes might start helping me out!!! She's so thoughtful... when i got confirmed, she sent me flowers even though she was busy with diplomacy in the Arab World. I admit it, I have a total girlcrush!

The decision was put off though because everyone has to do Fitzgerald stuff now.

Funny how things work out--if I hadn't gotten nominated, I wouldn't have started the blog, and if I didn't get caught there's no way Karen would work with me on it. So everything really does happen for a reason. If you've read my co-favorite book (with the Bible!) then you understand what I mean.

Of course, being nominated to the SUPREME COURT is its own reward!!

I hope nobody thinks this is my real job application because its NOT, its FAKE. This makes me look so STUPID:

my current job entails many duties that will help me in a position at the Supreme Court, such as resolving disputes. For example, while planning the last Capitol Hill softball outing, I discovered the Republicans wanted to have barbecue and the Democrats wanted vegetarian. Thinking quickly, I called Pizzeria Uno and order a variety of their delicious deep dish pies which were a big hit with everybody.

Could I point out again that nobody would have put that up about John Roberts? John Roberts, who was nowhere near as high up as I am in the White House? In fact who didn't even work in the White House? Pop quiz everybody: what's the difference between me and John Roberts?

Hint: gender.

Everyone agrees I'm gonna confirmed!! I think when people criticize it's just sour grapes 99% of the time. And like every minute I get another phone call from someone--"you go!" "yeah!"
